In 2009, Rex the ferocious and I moved into our current space in Old Oakland. At that time, the neighborhood was mostly vacant, and we were in the depth of the recession. We started with a simple premise: we wanted to be the insurance provider that we would recommend to our friends. This meant that our customers shouldn't have to ask if we applied all discounts, or if the coverage they had was appropriate. We should take care of these things for them, and act as an advocate regardless of whether or not they would ever find out. And of course, it also meant that our customers hould be able to reach a real person easily, even for the smallest things. Times change, however, and now we are elbow to elbow with stylish restaurants, amazing bars, and of course, lots and lots of legal offices. But some things don't change. We still answer the phone, and we still aggressively advocate for our clients, even if they aren't around to hear us
