GENERAL LIABILITY INSURANCE
General liability insurance coverage provides business owners with financial protection from legal claims for damage to property and injury to people. This is sometimes referred to as ‘Slip and Fall’.
Liability coverage typically covers legal fees and damages. A general liability insurance policy can protect business owners that rent or own space against risks from a broad range of perils (causes of bad things). General liability is often confused with other liability coverage due to its name. It is not a ‘catch – all’, and things like alcohol related events, or intellectual property are covered by different types of liability.
General Liability is often required by vendors or landlords as a requirement to do business. This is usually evidenced by a Liability Certificate, referred to as an Acord.
General Liability Insurance can be purchased as a standalone product or as part of a Business Owners Policy for those needing additional coverage for possessions, structures, or a more comprehensive set of coverages.
